ABOUT

The All Systems Africa Symposium - Transformational Leadership for Water and Sanitation 2026 will take place at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda, from 13 to 17 July 2026. The symposium is co-convened by the African Union’s Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP), the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), the Government of Rwanda and the IRC Africa Hub.

The event will mobilise leadership at political, fiscal, financial, and technical levels. It will place financial credibility at the centre of reform—showcasing how credible institutions and accountable systems can unlock sustainable investment. It will gather African leaders, reformers, financiers, and global partners to align on the transformation needed to build resilient, investable water and sanitation systems.

The All Systems Africa Symposium 2026 is not just another gathering. It is a continental milestone to launch Africa’s Systemic Transformation Agenda for Water and Sanitation—turning the Africa Water Vision 2063 into action. The symposium is not about diagnosing problems, but about advancing reforms, sharing country pathways, and activating systemic change that lasts.

What is it?

The Symposium is structured around four key pillars of systemic transformation:

Core pillars_00.png

Leadership

aligning political will, fiscal discipline, technical performance, and development finance engagement.

Strategic public finance

ensuring transparent, targeted public funding that blends domestic, concessional, and private resources.

Professionalisation

empowering public institutions with skilled staff, planning tools, and bankable projects.

Regulation & accountability

strengthening legal clarity, tariff oversight, and enforcement capacity.

The Symposium will spotlight inspiring country experiences and learning, and generate actionable commitments that bridge governance and finance, preparing national systems to attract large-scale investments.
